Digital Marketing Strategy

Positioning, channels and growth planning

Most marketing budgets are not spent badly because the ads are bad. They are spent badly because nobody decided who the customer is, what the offer is, which channels can realistically reach that person, and what number the whole thing is supposed to move. Activity then fills the gap: more posts, more channels, more spend, and no way to tell what is working.

A strategy engagement produces the decisions that make execution measurable. It is written to be used by whoever does the work — including your own team, if that is the arrangement.

What's included

What the strategy covers

  • The commercial objective, as a number.

Revenue, qualified leads, retention, average order value or cost per acquisition. "More brand awareness" is not an objective; it is a thing that either serves one or does not.

  • The customer, specifically.

Who buys, who influences the purchase, what triggers them to look, what they compare you against, and the objections that stop them.

  • Positioning and the offer.

What you are selling, to whom, against which alternative, and why they should choose it. Weak positioning cannot be fixed by media spend — it just makes the spend expensive.

  • Channel selection with reasoning.

Which channels your audience is actually reachable on, what each is good for, and — as importantly — which ones you should not be on. Being on every platform badly is worse than being on two properly.

  • The funnel, mapped end to end.

How someone goes from not knowing you exist to buying, and where they currently fall out of it. Usually the leak is on your own website, not in the ads.

  • Budget allocation

across acquisition, conversion and retention, including a proportion set aside for testing rather than every dirham committed to what already runs.

  • A measurement plan.

The metrics that matter, how they will be tracked, what the baseline is today, and what "working" looks like at thirty, ninety and one hundred and eighty days.

  • A roadmap.

Sequenced work with owners, so it is a plan rather than a wish list.

Why we fix the funnel before the spend

This is where being a development house as well as a marketing agency changes the advice. If your landing page takes eight seconds on mobile, your form asks for fourteen fields, or your checkout requires an account, then more traffic multiplies a problem instead of producing sales. We look at the product and the site first, and we will tell you when the highest-return marketing work is actually an engineering fix. Most agencies cannot make that recommendation, because they cannot deliver it.

Retention is part of the strategy

Acquisition is the most expensive way to grow and it is where nearly all the attention goes. An existing customer buying a second time costs a fraction of a new one, so the strategy covers lifecycle email, reactivation, referral and the reasons people leave. If your repeat rate is low, spending more on acquisition is filling a leaking bucket faster.

Bilingual markets are two audiences, not one

In a market where both Arabic and English are used, the language someone searches in, the platforms they spend time on, the creative that resonates and the cost of reaching them can all differ. Treating that as one audience with translated ads leaves the cheaper half of the opportunity untouched. We plan and budget the two separately, and measure them separately, because that is the only way to see which one is actually working.

How the engagement runs

  1. Audit. Analytics, ad accounts, search visibility, site performance, CRM data and the last twelve months of activity — what happened, what it cost, and what was learned.
  2. Research. Customer interviews where possible, competitor and market review, and search demand analysis to size what people are actually looking for.
  3. Workshop. A working session with your decision-makers on positioning, offer and priorities. Strategy handed down without that conversation does not get executed.
  4. The written strategy. Positioning, channels, budget, roadmap and measurement plan — a document your team can act on, not a deck of stock photography.
  5. Execution or handover. We can run it, run part of it alongside your team, or hand it over entirely. All three are legitimate and we quote whichever you want.

On working with Codigoo

They refused to do a big-bang launch, which annoyed me at the time. We traded through the entire migration without a single hour of downtime, so they were right.

Questions we are usually asked

Can you just run our ads instead?

We can, and sometimes that is right — if positioning and tracking are already sound and you need capable execution. But if nobody can say what a lead is worth to you, ad management becomes optimising toward a number nobody agreed on. We would rather spend a short engagement fixing that first.

How long before we see results?

It depends entirely on the channel, and anyone who answers this without asking is selling. Paid media can produce data in days and meaningful optimisation within weeks. SEO and content are typically a horizon of months. A strategy tells you which of those you are buying, so you are not judging a long-term channel on a thirty-day report.

Do you work with our internal marketing team?

Frequently, and it is often the best-value arrangement: we bring the strategy, the technical work and the specialisms that are hard to hire for, while your team keeps the brand knowledge and the day-to-day. We are explicit about who owns what.

What if the strategy says our product is the problem?

Then that is what it will say, and it happens. It is also the most useful outcome you can get for the money, because it stops you from spending a year buying traffic for something that does not convert.

If you are spending on marketing and cannot say what it is returning, that is the conversation to bring to a consultation.
